Today, let's take a tour of stateroom 5020 on the Disney Wonder, an obstructed view stateroom. As you enter the room, you'll find the toilet directly to your right, followed by a separate bathroom with a bathtub. There's a spacious cupboard section with a safe for your valuables, a queen-sized bed, a couch that converts into a bed, and an additional bed that pulls down from the ceiling. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a return gift, which turned out to be a handy backpack. The room also features adequate drawer space and a curtain to separate the sleeping area, creating a cozy and private atmosphere.
The stateroom boasts several power points, including a variety of different plug types, and the crew provided us with an adapter, ensuring all our devices stayed charged. As always on Disney cruises, there are hidden Mickeys scattered throughout the room, adding a touch of magic to your stay. The toilet is compact but adequate, and having a separate bathroom is a great feature, providing added convenience and privacy. There’s also additional storage space, perfect for stowing away your belongings.
Complimentary H2O Plus hand washes and creams are available in your stateroom in larger, refillable packs rather than the small take-home sizes we’re used to. The shower features a retro handle that adjusts the water temperature, with three different jet settings on the showerhead for a customizable experience. If you prefer a bath, simply toggle the switch to direct the water flow into the bathtub. The convenient laundry line in the shower cubicle is great for drying swimsuits or other items.
To control the temperature in your cabin, there's a simple air conditioning regulator. Life jackets are provided for everyone in the room, and a ladder is available for accessing the bed that pulls down from the ceiling. The stateroom also has ample hanging space and a safe for your valuables. The port hole-style drawer pulls and numerous drawers offer plenty of storage options. For safety, the evacuation route is posted on the back of your stateroom door, as is standard on cruise ships.
There's a small bar fridge in the cupboard, which we used to store chocolate milk brought down from breakfast. It's handy for keeping drinks and snacks cool. If you need extra storage, you can easily slide your bags under the bed. The second bed, which pulls down from the ceiling, wasn’t the most comfortable initially, but the crew quickly provided a foam mattress topper, making it much cozier for our guest. The soft-close drawers and hidden Mickeys add a whimsical touch to the room's practical features.
The Disney Wonder is a medium-sized ship, perfect for families and Disney enthusiasts alike. It features various dining options, including the Animator's Palate, Tiana's Place, and Triton's, each offering a unique dining experience. The ship, which was launched in 1999 and underwent a significant refurbishment in 2016, retains its classic charm while providing modern amenities. Whether you're traveling with kids or simply a Disney fan, the Disney Wonder offers a delightful cruising experience filled with magical moments. Stay safe and happy travels!
