Grand Cayman | Festa Italiana | Fahrenheit 555 | Carnival Venezia | Day 5 | 04/24/25

An interesting day in Grand Cayman port. We started it off by getting a $5 Jamaican patty from a little hut in the port and it was GOOD!!! Then we walked about 2 minutes to a free wild beach right outside of the port shopping walls. They have a fish market set up right outside of the beach and the fishermen throw the fish scraps back into the water and there were dozens and dozens of giant fish swimming right there in the shallow end eating those scraps. It was VERY cool interacting with that fish. Later we went to walk around the downtown area. It's a bit of a ghost town there but feels very safe. At no point was I concerned for my safety. We wanted to find some local food to eat but everything was very expensive both by port and downtown. I mean REALLY expensive. Like a quesadilla would be $20 Cayman dollars which would make it $24 US PLUS a mandatory surcharge of 15-18% on all orders! That' d be almost $30 per person if we each got one thing. And it's too much to spend on just a light snack. So we decided to eat on ship instead. Got some drinks from a local grocery store. They're no better than US versions. High fructose corn syrup in all of them instead of sugar. Oh well... Later we went to Festa Italiana on the ship which was their Italian festival and both of our daughters took part in the gelato eating competition. It was so funny!! For dinner Adam and I went to Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse on the ship. The oysters there are just beyond good! Follow us on this video as we explore this wonderful ship!
