A moment of calm.
The beautiful sight of the bow of Queen Mary 2 as she slices through the waves of the Great Australian Bight on a crossing from Fremantle to Adelaide in the Southern Ocean on a voyage from the past.
I could look at this view from the Commodore Club all day. QM2 has a long elegant Ocean Liner bow that is designed to slice through large waves and heavy weather she encounters on a North Atlantic Crossing.
The weather in the Great Australian Bight was fortunately fairly calm this crossing but the seas in this area can very rough, influnced by the Roaring Forties.
The winds can create powerful waves and heavy seas.
