This is the final song from The Choir of Man performed onboard Norwegian Encore. It's the iconic farewell number, “The Parting Glass.” If you’ve seen this show before, you already know how powerful this ending can be. But this performance was something truly extraordinary.
We were blessed to see the Norwegian Encore Cast (10.0/2.0) perform the show several times throughout the week, however, the final show of the week featured something different...
During this final song, the cast invited one of their beloved tech leads onto the stage - someone who had worked alongside them night after night and was heading off on a well-earned vacation. As the song unfolded, she sat on stage while cast members reached out to her, held her hand and touched her shoulder. No choreography. No spectacle. Just gratitude, love, and connection.
“The Parting Glass” is traditionally a song of farewell. It's not goodbye forever, but rather until we meet again. In that moment, it was exactly that. A tribute to friendship, shared work, and the kind of bond that only comes from creating something special together.
This is why live theater at sea can be so magical. Moments like this aren’t rehearsed. They’re felt. And I’m grateful to have captured it.
Good night and joy be to you all.
