Visiting Olympia immerses you in the heart of ancient Greece, where you can explore the ruins of the Temple of Zeus and the Olympic Stadium, the site of the original Olympic Games. The archaeological site brings history to life, revealing the roots of thier faith-based athletic competition. In Corfu, enjoy a delightful mix of culture, with a crisp taste of ouzo and an interesting olive oil soap demonstration, made by hand since the mid-1800s, showcasing the island's traditions and flavors.
This 7-part series explores:
Istanbul, where we spend two days on our own exploring Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, Basilica Cistern and downtown streets near the waterfront, before embarking on a ship tour that includes a visit to the Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar and a cruise through the Bosphorus Strait.
Troy, where we visit the multilayered archeological site dating back to 3500 BCE and learn of the legendary Greek mythological Trojan War.
Kusadasi, where we explored the expansive archeological site of Ephesus, including its impressive structures of Library of Celsius and Great Theater.
Rhodes, where we show a past exploration of the island, including the old town’s Knights of St. John Fortress and on another part of the island, the Acropolis of Lindos.
Crete, where we visit the Heraklion Archeology museum.
Athens, where we show a past exploration of the Pantheatic Stadium, as well as the Acropolis & Parthenon.
Olympia, where we explored the site of the ancient Olympic Games.
Corfu, where were we visited a local market and olive oil soap factory, that has been hand making soap for 5 generations.
Kotor, where we take a walk about the old town square and attended a lovely guitar concert at St. Nicholas Franciscan Monastery.
Dubrovnik, where explored the old fortress, iconic in its own right but also heavily featured in films and television.
Split, where we visit Diocleatian's Palace and take a lovely cruise on the scenic Cetina River.
Venice, where we sail in, and briefly explain the alternate port of Chioggia's transport to this world-famous city.
