We have a huge CDC Cruise Update. Just moments ago, the CDC reversed course and updated the CDC Cruise Guidelines. In this unexpected move, the CDC is changing to of its cruise ship rules.
The first CDC cruise update is changing the face mask requirements for fully vaccinated individuals. Now, the CDC cruise guideline indicates that those who are vaccinated do not need to wear a face mask while on the outdoor decks. This is true for extended meal and beverage service. However, fully vaccinated people still need to wear face masks outdoors when congestion could occur. However, the in this CDC cruise news, the government agency is not allowing individuals to remove face masks when indoors during extended meal service.
In addition, the CDC cruise guidelines are now different for shore excursions. The organization changed its requirements to a recommendation that individuals go ashore on approved cruise line tours. Now, the free exploration of cruise ports is permitted. The CDC is still suggesting cruise lines impose restricted tours, but it is not mandatory. The CDC is still requiring cruise lines to vet tour operates and ensure they meet healthy safety protocols for sanitation, face masks, and social distancing.
