π’π First Look at Disney Adventure: DCLβs largest cruise ship ever! Here are 3 huge ways for how this cruise ship is unique for Disney Cruise Line.
Last week, I was wrapping up a family vacation on a different cruise arriving at Port Canaveral when I looked out my window and saw the Disney Adventure docked right next to us.
Disney Adventure is DCLβs next cruise ship, making its maiden voyage in March out of Singapore. Last Thursday was the first time it arrived at Port Canaveral. So naturally I started geeking out instead of following disembarking procedures.
Three things immediately stood out that make the Adventure wildly different from any other Disney ship:
First, the funnels. Every other Disney cruise ship has two funnels, but the Adventure has four, and they have a more angular design that makes the top deck instantly recognizable from afar.
Second, there's an Iron Man roller coaster on the top deck called the Ironcycle Test Run. It's the first roller coaster on Disney Cruise Line, and the longest coaster at sea with an 820 foot track. My entire extended family was most excited about this one.
Third, the sheer size is hard to comprehend until you look at the numbers. The Disney Destiny, Wish, and Treasure were all previously tied for the largest Disney Cruise ships at 144,000 gross tons (holding 4,000 passengers).
The Adventure comes in at 208,000 gross tons and holds at least 6,000 guests.
That's 44% bigger than the Wish class ships and one of only 11 cruise ships in the world over 200,000 gross tons.
The Adventure still has an adventure ahead as it heads to Singapore for its maiden voyage in March.
Let me know: What do you think of the new ship, and would you fly to Singapore to sail on Disneyβs biggest ship? β
