Queen Victoria 2024 Vlog 4 | Cherbourg Day, The Verandah Steakhouse & Final Evening Onboard | Cunard Festive Cruise
Welcome to Episode 4, the final chapter of our Cunard Queen Victoria 4 Night Festive Cruise Series. In this vlog, we take you through our full day in Cherbourg, explore some of Queen Victoria’s most iconic venues, and wrap up our festive sailing in true Cunard style.
Breakfast at the Lido Restaurant – Deck 9
We start the day with a relaxed breakfast at the Lido Restaurant, Queen Victoria’s casual buffet venue offering a wide range of meals and snacks throughout the day. Quick, easy, and super convenient before heading ashore.
Exploring Cherbourg – Museum, Submarines & Nautile
Once off the ship, we visit the City of the Sea Museum & Aquarium, home to:
- The impressive Redoutable submarine
- The historic Nautile submersible, famous for its role in exploring and filming the Titanic wreck
Even if you don’t pay for the full experience, the free exhibits in the main hall are absolutely worth a look.
A complimentary shuttle takes you from the cruise terminal into Cherbourg in just 10–15 minutes, making it an easy port to explore independently.
Lunch in Cherbourg – Supporting Local
We always try to support local restaurants when visiting ports, so we stopped for a delicious lunch in town. Great food, friendly service, and a lovely chance to chat and soak up the atmosphere before heading back to Queen Victoria.
A Relaxing Afternoon Back Onboard
With surprisingly pleasant December weather, we enjoyed a peaceful wander around the open decks before settling in for drinks at:
- Lido Bar
- Chartroom Bar – the perfect spot for an afternoon of relaxing, chatting, and people watching
At 6:30 pm, Queen Victoria set sail from Cherbourg, giving us a beautiful view as the ship glided back out to sea.
Dinner at The Verandah – Cunard’s Signature Steakhouse
Tonight’s highlight: The Verandah, Cunard’s specialty steakhouse serving premium steaks, lobster, oysters, and more. At around $60 per person, it’s a must try dining experience onboard Queen Victoria.
Evening Drinks & Final Night Onboard
After dinner, we captured a few selfies in the Grand Lobby before heading to the Midships Lounge for a relaxed evening at the gin and fizz bar. Later, we wandered the promenade deck and watched Queen Victoria sail back into Southampton, ending our festive mini cruise with a peaceful final night.
