Before the Accident… see the Ruby Princess Cruise Ship sail away from San Francisco, under the Golden Gate Bridge! This cruise ship crashed into the dockside in San Francisco, causing major damage that needed repaired before the coast guard would let her sail again. She was supposed to leave SF for a 10 day cruise to Alaska but suffered a crash at the pier when arriving in port from the previous trip.
Cruise passengers are on board and enjoying the usual activities, but without sailing anywhere they have to make do with the pretty awesome view of San Francisco and landmarks like Alcatraz, the Transamerica pyramid and Salesforce tower from the Embarcadero. They're also very near to the impressive Bay Bridge which connects San Francisco and Oakland, and in the other direction world famous fisherman's wharf. The travelers include locals as well as tourists from out of town and overseas. They'll still get to see Alaska, but will have a shortened itinerary on the voyage. An investigation is under way on the cause of the accident. The ship was technically under control of the harbor pilots at the time. The ship has capacity for over 3300 guests and 1100 crew.
