During my time in Montréal on my Canada and New England cruise I visited something a little different. After exploring the city I headed over to Parc Jean Drapeau where you can walk the entire Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Many people do not realise that the full Formula One track is open to the public and it feels quite surreal to follow the same route that the drivers race on.
Walking the full circuit gives you a real sense of its scale. Some sections are quiet and peaceful with long straights while others curve through leafy areas with views across the park and glimpses of the Montréal skyline. It is an easy and enjoyable walk and a great way to see a side of the city that most cruise visitors miss.
It ended up being a real highlight of my day in Montréal and something I would happily do again on a future visit.
