This isn’t your typical Caribbean cruise. I swapped mega ships, buffets and Broadway-style shows for a tall ship sailing through the Caribbean and it completely changed how I see cruising.
In this video, I share why this might genuinely be the best way to cruise the Caribbean… and also why it absolutely won’t suit everyone.
I’ll cover:
- Why tall sailing ships offer a totally different Caribbean experience
- What life on board is really like day to day
- Who will love this kind of cruise
- Who should probably stick to a big cruise ship instead
- The realities around mobility, seasickness, cabins and onboard facilities
If you love active travel, authentic sailing, and want to experience the Caribbean in a more hands-on way, this might be your dream cruise.
If you need elevators, multiple dining options, kids’ clubs or calm seas… maybe not.
This is my honest take after sailing on Star Flyer with Star Clippers.

Would you try this, or are mega ships more your thing?
