What should have been an ordinary departure for the Norwegian Epic at New York on March 31 turned out to be anything but ordinary! The Norwegian Epic arrived on March 31 as part of a repositioning cruise and she departed from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal while storms were in the area, and she slowly made her way down the river, taking longer than usual to appear in view of our New York Harbor camera. She continued down the river very slowly, which provided us with nice, long looks at her, but then, she stopped! In the middle of the harbor, she stopped in place to let 2 big container ships pass by her as they made their way to New Jersey. That should have been the end of it, right? It wasn't! Even after the container ships passed by, she stayed put and disappeared into a new round of storms. It turns out she dropped her anchor and stayed in the harbor overnight, which wasn't planned at all! In the afternoon hours of April 1, she finally picked up her anchor and headed back up the river to turn around and finally finish up her departure! To say her visit was... EPIC might not be enough words to describe it!
