This is the 2nd video of Animatronic Duo’s travel vlog series covering our cruise around Japan on the Diamond Princess. This video covers our first excursion to Beppu. After a day at Sea the Diamond Princess docked at the first port stop of our cruise, the mysterious and beautiful, Beppu. Beppu is a hilly, and steamy townscape. It is Japan's premier hot spring or onsen, city. It boasts the largest volume of geothermal water in the country. Beppu is located in Oita [o eat a] Prefecture on the southern Japanese island of [Q Shoe] Kyushu. It is famous for its "Hells of Beppu" (spectacular, non-bathing hot springs) and diverse bathing options, including sand and mud baths. We booked an excursion through Princess to see some of the “Hells of Beppu.” Our first stop was umi jigoku - which means “Sea Hell.” It is one of the cobalt blue hot springs of Beppu. The water in umi jigoku is extremely hot! It’s far too dangerous to touch. The temperature is 208 degrees Fahrenheit or 98 degrees Celsius! In the same location as umi jigoku is also a blood red onsen that really makes start thinking about hell … minus the enteral damnation.
