This video is my review of the Wi-Fi package offered on the Carnival Luminosa.
I explain that before the cruise, customers have the opportunity to purchase one of three tiers of Wi-Fi packages, and I chose the top tier, which cost AUD150 for a seven-night South Pacific cruise.
I had mixed experiences with the Wi-Fi reception, as it was patchy at times, and I experienced the "spiral of death" frequently.
I also note that Wi-Fi is required for the Carnival Hub app, which allows customers to book dinner or check the ship's schedule.
However, the app did not work on some occasions, which was frustrating.
The Wi-Fi reception was reasonable inside her cabin, but I had no reception on her balcony.
I also note that the Wi-Fi works when I am close to the ship but not when I am on her balcony, which is odd.
I would potentially buy the Wi-Fi package again for a seven-day or longer cruise, but not for a shorter cruise.
I also recommend reading the product disclosure statement, as depending on how much you purchase, you can only have Wi-Fi on one device at a time.
I note that Carnival charges an additional eight dollars to be able to communicate via text with other people on the boat for AUD8.
I find this to be an unnecessary cost and wonder why it is not included in the Wi-Fi package.
In conclusion, I had mixed experiences with the Wi-Fi package on the Carnival Luminosity.
I recommend purchasing it for a longer cruise but not for a shorter one.
I also suggest reading the product disclosure statement and being aware of the additional costs for messaging other passengers on the boat.
