Puerto Plata is located on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic.
The pier at Taino Bay port measures 1,312 feet, with capacity for 2 large cruise ships to berth. To reach the port welcome center, cruise passengers can take a short walk (approx. 750 ft) or hitch a free ride in the port’s rickshaws. The fresh air and tropical landscape makes it a healthy choice to walk.
The Taíno Bay cruise port opened in December 2021, is not open to the general public and feels quite safe. It’s located adjacent to Puerto Plata’s historical city center and provides easy access to beaches and downtown. The port is a destination within itself, as it offers new amenities including not only shopping, restaurants, and bars but also an enormous pool, a lazy river, and lots of areas to lie out in the sun or shade.
