Queen Elizabeth is HEADING HOME! Cunard's Queen Elizabeth leaves the Philippines bound for the UK!

Some breaking news from the Phillipines where Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth has been based for several months. Today, Queen Elizabeth set sail on a voyage back to Southampton having recently been in warm layup in Manila Bay - you can keep track of her progress here: https://bit.ly/31g266c Queen Elizabeth left Southampton back in December 2019 bound for an extended cruise season in Australia. She undertook an Australian and New Zealand cruising season which was interrupted in March by the Coronavirus pandemic. Queen Elizabeth has been scheduled to leave Australian waters in March and sail to Japan then onwards to Alaska. However the worsening coronavirus situation in Asia led to those voyages being cancelled in February. In their place, a new itinerary of Australian cruises were released however on 15 March (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWy6kHf4-VI) the global cruise industry commenced an unprecedented pause of operations - meaning Queen Elizabeth’s new Australian voyages were cancelled. Queen Elizabeth headed to the Philippines after the Australian Cruise Ban, which led to cruise ships departing en-masse from Australian ports. In Manila Bay, Queen Elizabeth has been anchored alongside a huge cluster of cruise ships, including Carnival Spirit, Pacific Dawn, Pacific Aria and Pacific Explorer as well as ships from Costa, Princess, HAL, Carnival and Royal Caribbean. It is safe to assume that Queen Elizabeth will spend her layup in close quarters to her fleet mates QM2 and Queen Victoria, which are anchored near Weymouth, on the South Coast of England.
