In addition to being slightly larger than its predecessors, the ship is scheduled to debut in 2024. With a length of ten meters and a width of two meters, the Viking Vela is the eleventh vessel in a series that began with the Viking Star in 2015. Additionally, the newbuild will carry more passengers: 998 instead of 930. As well as the deployment of the ship, Viking Cruises has already published it on its website. When the Viking Vela begins service in 2024, it will offer itineraries to Scandinavia, the British Isles, Iceland, the Norwegian Fjords, and more. Viking says the new Vela offers all-balcony accommodations and is ideally sized to reach destinations where larger ships cannot dock. A joint venture between China Merchants and Viking Sun, the ship serves the Chinese domestic market under its previous name Viking Sun.
