Cruise Hint 101: Tipping my room attendant when #cruise @julescruisecompanion

On my final day on Carnival Splendor, I reflect on their recent 10-night cruise to the Pacific Islands. I think, what is an appropriate amount to tip their room steward, affectionately referred to as B. Despite the cruise line's transition to providing only one daily room service, B has been exceptionally attentive during their voyage. Notably, he has often crafted charming towel animals, which I have utilized as backdrops for my Vlogs, as per audience requests. During the voyage, it was revealed that it was B's birthday, although the exact age was not disclosed. Considering my usual tipping range of five to ten Australian dollars per day, I decided to leave $100 Australian dollars for the entire 10-night cruise. If the scenario was two individuals sharing a cabin suggest that a similar tip for both occupants, or 75 dollars each, would still be substantial. The dedication of room stewards like B, who commit to contracts lasting up to nine months, far away from their families and friends is remarkable There is the altruistic nature of many room stewards who not only support their own families but also assist disadvantaged individuals in their villages with education costs. This commitment to the welfare of others underscores the challenging conditions under which they work. Living in close quarters, often sharing a cabin with another person, and working tirelessly without a day off for such extended periods is indeed a superhuman feat. I emphasize that tipping is typically optional, particularly for Australians who may not be accustomed to tipping due to different wage expectations. However, it is important to recognize the hard work and sacrifices of individuals like B by tipping generously.
