Welcome to Episode 2 of our Mississippi River Vlog series.
In this episode, we explore St. Louis, Missouri and Alton, Illinois - starting at the National Great Rivers Museum, where we learn about river navigation, locks and dams, and the confluence of America’s great rivers. We then travel to St Louis to learn about the majestic Budweiser Clydesdales at Anheuser Busch Brewery’s unforgettable VIP Clydesdale Experience. We take in a ballgame, and conclude our exploration by visiting Gateway Arch National Park, where we take a ride to the top of the Gateway Arch, and visit the museum below it. This trip is full of history, engineering, and iconic Midwest experiences.

Hannibal, MO
We explore Mark Twain’s (Sam Clemens' pen name) boyhood home and multiple Twain museums, tour the cave that inspired Tom Sawyer, and stroll the charming riverfront town filled with literary history and scenic Mississippi views.
Alton, IL
We visit the Great Rivers Museum where we learn about the Mississippi’s impact on river navigation and the region’s history.
St Louis, MO
We explore the Gateway Arch’s museum and sweeping views, then met the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales—majestic, massive, and truly unforgettable.
Memphis, TN
We visit the Blues Hall of Fame, explore Beale Street, tour Elvis’s Graceland, and explore nearby museums showcasing Elvis’s iconic costumes and memorabilia.
It's here that we board American Splendor, our American Cruise Lines paddlewheeler riverboat for the cruise along the Mississippi to New Orleans.
Cleveland, MS
We visit the GRAMMY Museum Mississippi to explore music history, interactive exhibits, and legendary artist tributes.
Vicksburg, MS
We explore Vicksburg’s Civil War history at the National Military Park, visiting battlefield memorials and an ironclad still fairly preserved for its age. We also learn the city’s economic difficulties following a natural re-routing of the Mississippi River soon after the Civil War.
Natchez, MS
We tour the Frogmore Cotton Plantation and its historic cotton gin, learn about slavery, cotton farming, and hear authentic spirituals once sung by enslaved people.
St. Francisville, LA
We visit Port Hudson Historic Site to explore Civil War earthworks, battlefield history, and learn about the longest siege in American military history through trails and interpretive displays.
Vacherie, LA
We tour Oak Alley Plantation to walk its iconic oak-lined path, tour the antebellum mansion, and learn about the lives of enslaved people who lived and worked there.
New Orleans, LA
We visit Mardi Gras World to see vibrant parade floats, learn about carnival traditions, savor beignets at Café du Monde, go inside Jackson Square’s St. Louis Cathedral, and visit the Voodoo Museum in the French Quarter.
