Something new for all of us is the use of APPs while cruising. I'll show you what I’ve been doing on my phone it may help you out.
If you are anything like me, your phone has become attached to your hand for absolutely everything from phone calls to banking.
It is also important for me for booking cruises and to go on a cruise.
I have one page specifically set aside just for active cruises.
Carnival HUB, the P&O cruise HUB, the Australian version, and the Princess Medallion Class.
There's also Verifly and an international COVID app.
Once you've downloaded the app and logged on with your cruise booking number it then gives you a countdown.
There are no other active sections to this app at P&O, yet it isn't available until the cruise starts.
On this app, I can see that there is a way that you can contact and keep in touch with other members of your party.
Another part of this P&O app has a section where you can see all the deck plans.
Another exciting cruise app is the Carnival cruise HUB app.
Once you've downloaded that and put your information with your booking number on it will come up with this countdown.
There are no other sections to it at the moment because the cruise hasn't started.
I'm assuming I will download things like my credit card and my immunization status and all that type of stuff like is on the other apps.
This is the exciting app the Princess Medallion APP because it's going to be the one that I use first. This countdown says that I have 12 days to go before my cruise.
I have uploaded all of my immunization statuses.
I’ve uploaded my information about my credit card etc and the other people in my party are linked. These little green icons and arrows have indicated that I have met the criteria, that are required for this section of the app. When you hit these icons they expand and you open another page you hit them again they'll expand where you can put additional information in to get your green tick.
That gets you ready for your embarkation day.
Not related to cruising specifically but to travel in general is to download the international COVID passport. It’s available from your MyGov account in Medicare. You download it as a hard copy PDF or download it as this page indicates as a live QR code there ready for scanning on any journey.
I have also downloaded the Verifly app. This is a general app that is linked to airlines where you can upload your information your vaccine status and your passport so that it is all there in one specific place ready for when you travel.
I hope that's been helpful in demystifying some of the new apps that we're going to encounter as cruising starts in 2022.
Stay Safe & Happy Travels.
