Cunard Ocean Liner QE2 arrived in a very busy Hong Kong Harbour.
Queen Elizabeth 2 made her grand entrance into this amazing Harbour at 12 pm pm on Friday the 22nd of February 1991.
As she sailed to her berth at the Ocean Terminal,
she passes some classic looking Cargo Ships
and classic ships of all descriptions.
The most interesting vessel was the former
Matson and Pacific Far East Luxury Passenger Liner Mariposa. She would visit Sydney Harbour many times in the past on Transpacific voyages from San Francisco and Hawaii, the South Pacific.
She was at that time named Jin Jang and was eventually Scrapped at Alang,India in 1996.
Also a Hovercraft a JetCat a Boeing Jet Foil which saluted QE2. I have heard these Jet Foils can travel at speeds in excess of 40 knots and they travel from Hong Kong to Macau.
.
The passenger ship with the yellow funnel we sailed past I can't identify.
Does anyone watching know this ships name?
The former Blue Funnel Line Centaur I think can also be seen at anchor. She was renamed Hai Da after being sold to the Chinese Government.
QE2 would Leave Hong Kong on Sunday the 22nd
