Today may be one of the most controversial videos that I post.
I'm standing here in front of two G-Clay that I purchased at a Park West Art Gallery auction, while on a cruise ship.
I do not condone purchasing artwork on a cruise ship.
If that is something that you want to do, fine.
I have made this mistake I have done.
I’ll show the video of what I recorded on Coral Princess in June of 2022.
At the end, I will have another conversation about the pitfalls of art auctions on a cruise ship.
Park West is a legitimate art gallery.
It is a Detroit-based art gallery.
It is well known for its mass-produced hand-embellished G-Clays.
The items are not original artwork.
It varies from naïve to classical.
It's got some experimental stuff where paint is on metal and then is ground down.
Park West gives some pretty good lectures on different artists.
It is very easy to get lulled into a buying spree when you've had a couple of glasses of champagne.
When it comes to art auctions, sometimes your excitement or inhibition may lead you to bid on a piece of art that you don't really want.
Your excitement is raised and there may be other people bidding against you.
You just get a little out of hand.
The items are very beautiful.
They are fairly unique compared to maybe some of the things that your friends and relatives may have at home.
Most of this stuff is available in your local area or via a specialist collector.
So buying on a boat is not necessarily the only way you can purchase these items.
I was standing in front of my Roxy G-Clays purchased on a cruise ship from a Park West auction. Now here I stand in front of my Romano Brito that I purchased on a cruise ship as well.
They are very difficult to transport once you've purchased them on a cruise ship.
You've got to get them back to Australia.
My rule is - If you don't buy it on land, don't buy it on the sea.
You can choose to use your spending dollar any way you like
These are just my ideas or my thoughts about art auctions and buying souvenirs fragile souvenirs while on a cruise ship.
Stay Safe & Happy Travels.
