We dressed up, gathered our friends, and headed to Crown Grill for an anniversary dinner that turned into one of the most memorable nights of our Western Caribbean cruise.
We celebrated our anniversary the Rambler way with a night at Crown Grill aboard the Enchanted Princess. Crown Grill is Princess Cruises’ signature steakhouse, designed to feel like a classic high-end steakhouse at sea, with dark wood décor, warm lighting, and an intimate dining room atmosphere.
Howdy, this is George the Fearless Rambler, lets go inside Crown Grill aboard Enchanted Princess for a full specialty dining experience. Walking into that dark wood, warm lighting, classic steakhouse atmosphere, this was not buffet night. This was the kind of evening where you slow down, enjoy great company, and let the food take center stage.
Before dinner, we were sailing the Western Caribbean after flying into Fort Lauderdale for embarkation day. We boarded Enchanted Princess, cruised toward Mexico, and celebrated our anniversary in Cozumel with a cooking class led by a Tabasco chef. After a port day filled with flavor, friends, and even a henna tattoo to celebrate, It was time for an elegant night at sea.
Crown Grill is Princess Cruises’ signature steakhouse, known for premium cuts, fresh seafood, and an upscale dining experience that feels like a fine dining restaurant.
We started strong with fresh baked breads, garlic cheese bread, and rich appetizers. The black and blue onion soup was savory and layered with melted cheese that stretched with every bite. The black tiger prawns were large, fresh, and balanced with cocktail sauce. Terri’s shrimp and pancetta bisque came out thick and creamy with smoky depth. The hand cut beef filet tartare, topped with caviar and served with crisp toast confirmed we had paid extra for special dining.
For the main course, Crown Grill delivered in a big way. Terri ordered the New Zealand double lamb chops. I went for the 14 ounce ribeye, seared just right. They even presented three gourmet salts including Hawaiian black salt, Himalayan pink salt, and smoked applewood salt (they're all salty).
Sides like garlic parmesan fries, creamed spinach, mushrooms, and potatoes rounded out the meal. Then came the surprise anniversary celebration. The staff gathered around our table, sang to us, and presented a chocolate anniversary cake layered with mousse and ganache. It was more than just dinner, it was unforgettable.
The menu focuses on premium cuts of beef, fresh seafood, and elevated steakhouse classics, all prepared to highlight bold, simple flavors. One of Crown Grill’s signature touches is its trio of gourmet salts, which are served with the steaks to let guests customize every bite with flavors like Hawaiian black salt, smoked applewood salt from Yakima, and Himalayan pink salt. We even spoke with the maître d about what makes Crown Grill such a special dining experience onboard. Fearless kicked things off with the famous black and blue onion soup and black tiger prawns with papaya salpicon, while Terri enjoyed the shrimp and pancetta bisque and hand-cut beef filet tartare. For the main courses, Terri chose the New Zealand double lamb chops, George went bold with the heavily marbled 14-ounce ribeye served with the gourmet salt trio, and Robin enjoyed a perfectly cooked 7-ounce lobster tail from the seafood menu. Dessert featured salted caramel crème brûlée and apple and rhubarb cobbler, and just when we thought the night was over, the Crown Grill team surprised us with a special anniversary cake and a song that turned dinner into an unforgettable memory. See why Crown Grill is one of the top specialty dining experiences on Princess Cruises.
