Cunard's Queen Elizabeth Cruise Ship had some extreme repair alongside in Melbourne, Australia when her radome was replaced by a giant crane!!
The old radome was lifted off the ship and a brand new high tech radome was installed replacing the original unit that had been with the ship since it entered cruising service in 2010.
Despite a windy afternoon, the expert Australian maintenance crew guided the huge radome off the ship and onto the pier. Then a new one was craned onto the deck of Queen Elizabeth to install it within a two hour window.
To allow for the installation of the new Radome onto Queen Elizabeth, the Cunard ship was expertly nudged forward 30 metres, by the officers and crew on the bridge.
Tied up safely alongside, Queen Elizabeth got her new radome installed for some extreme dockside maintenance that was a spectacle for the passengers and crew to watch.
