Cruise Line just CHANGED Their Deposit Rules SHOCKING Every Cruiser!
Once considered the “safe choice” thanks to its flexible and refundable deposit policy, Princess Cruises has now surprised many travelers with a major shift.
Starting October 15, 2025, the cruise line will officially move to a non-refundable deposit system for all new bookings — a change that puts Princess in the same league as Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Carnival.
But for many loyal cruisers, this decision feels like a cold splash of water, as the flexibility and passenger-friendly approach that once set Princess apart may now be a thing of the past.
So, how exactly will this change affect travelers, and what is the cruise community saying about it?
Let’s find out — in today’s episode of Cruise Now.

I want to emphasize once again that Princess Cruises is rolling out major changes to its deposit policy, effective October 15.
Travelers will now notice that all new bookings with Princess are automatically set to non-refundable deposits by default. This adjustment applies across the board — whether you book directly through the Princess website or through a travel agent.

In the past, guests enjoyed far greater flexibility: deposits were typically fully refundable up to 90 or even 120 days before sailing, depending on the length of the cruise. With this update, Princess has effectively replaced that long-standing refund system, making it easier for travelers to unknowingly commit to a deposit they can’t get back if their plans change.
Under the new policy, deposit amounts have increased and now vary depending on the length of the voyage and the stateroom category selected. For cruises 13 days or shorter, the final payment deadline remains at 90 days before departure. However, for longer sailings of 14 days or more, Princess has shifted the final payment date to 120 days before departure, requiring passengers to pay in full a month earlier than before.
