Charo, stage name of María Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza, is a Spanish-born actress, singer, comedian, and award-winning classical flamenco guitarist. She found fame in the 1970s on American TV shows like The Carol Burnett Show and Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. In 1995, she won a Billboard International Latin Music Conference award for Female Pop Album of the Year for her flamenco-inspired album Guitar Passion.
In an interview, Charo has said, "Around the world I am known as a great musician. But in America, I am known as the cuchi-cuchi girl. That's okay, because cuchi-cuchi has taken me all the way to the bank."
Charo was one of the most frequent guest stars on The Love Boat. The Spanish-born flamenco guitarist appeared on 10 episodes of the ABC romantic comedy-drama series from 1977 to 1987. Charo, now 74, played a beloved character named April Lopez in all but one of her appearances, per IMDb.
