Our journey begins in Tampa, and today we’re sharing simple tips to make embarkation and debarkation quick and stress-free.
TIP #1 – Carry-On Luggage Is Stress-Free
While it’s convenient to drop your luggage curbside and have it delivered to your cabin, we’ve found that carrying on our luggage is much easier—especially on debarkation day, and we’ll show you why later in the video.
Plus, once you’re onboard and your cabin opens, you don’t have to wait for your bags to arrive.
TIP #2 – Embarkation Made Easy
When it comes to embarkation, the Port of Tampa does it right.
Although cruise lines discourage arriving hours before your scheduled time, we like to arrive just a little early.
We arrived at 10:15 for our 11:00 a.m. check-in, and within minutes we were already in line for our appointment.
The line is outside, so be prepared for the weather.
After clearing security, we moved quickly through check-in, received our ID cards and room keys, and waited about 10 minutes in a seated area before our group was called.
And before you know it… we’re on the ship!
Debarkation Day – Why Carry-On Wins
Now let’s talk about debarkation day, and this is where carry-on luggage really shines.
First, you don’t have to place your luggage in the hallway the night before—and you’re among the first passengers off the ship.
TIP #3 – Start Early on Debarkation Day
We enjoyed a calm, uncrowded breakfast in the café, had no trouble getting an elevator to the debarkation holding area, and easily found seating while waiting for the first group to be called.
TIP #4 – Listen to the Crewmembers
This one is important.
The crew has a system—and it works. They’ll even demonstrate how the exit line should form.
Pay attention, don’t bunch up, and definitely don’t try to cut the line—you will be called out and sent to the back.
By following directions, once we’re told the ship has cleared the port, we calmly walk off, scan our ID cards, and are in the terminal in just over five minutes—passing rows and rows of luggage and heading straight for an Uber.
And now you know why carry-on luggage is the only way to go when cruising.
