4 Stories from other cruisers about incidents on board spending @julescruisecompanion

These are four incidents that occurred on a cruise ship related to onboard accounts. three of which are related to drinks and drinks packages. In one of the incidents, a person ordered a drink that was over the cap limit of their drinks package, and the entire cost of the drink was charged to their onboard account instead of just the additional amount. Be vigilant about reading the product disclosure statement and understanding what is included in the drinks package. In another incident related to drinks packages, both people in a cabin need to have the drinks package, and their onboard account card needs to be linked to their medallion, which has a photo ID. If someone else tries to use the card, the bartender may not serve them. Be vigilant about how the onboard account card is used and recommends both people go to the bar together. A Princess Cruise customer had drinks allocated to them that they did not purchase or consume. The customer was charged for the drinks because their medallion device was close to the processing device, even though they did not have a drinks package. Be vigilant about checking what is happening with the onboard account and using the company's app or getting a hard copy readout. Lastly, on a Carnival Cruise ship, where guests were charged for beach towels that they did not return on time. Guests had to sign out the beach towel and return it to the attendant, but they were being charged $28 per towel, and their accounts were charged $28 per day for the number of days they used the towel. Be vigilant about the process of towel hiring and ensure that the towel is signed back in to avoid being charged for it. Keep checking for a product disclosure statement or information sheet about the process. Be vigilant and read the product disclosure statement to understand what is included in the drinks package and be cautious about using the onboard account card. Check your onboard account regularly and understand the towel hiring process to avoid unexpected charges.
