HUGE CRUISE NEWS! Princess “Refundable” Deposits: What Changed & Why It Matters

I have two important updates today, and one of them is a big one that I don’t think most Princess cruisers are fully aware of yet. First, we need to talk about Princess Cruises’ refundable deposits. While Princess announced refundable and non-refundable deposits back in October, what I’ve recently learned is that on some cruises—especially 14 days or longer—those “refundable” deposits are not always refundable until final payment. In some cases, the deposit becomes non-refundable well before the final payment date, even when the booking appears to meet the criteria for a refundable deposit. I walk you through exactly where to look on your Princess booking confirmation, what language to watch for, and why this matters so much. There are no reminders or alerts in the system for when a deposit quietly becomes non-refundable, so you really do need to know your own dates. I also explain why having outside travel insurance becomes especially important once you pass that point. Second, I want to remind everyone about an important change to Princess Easy Air. For bookings made after March 5, 2025, airfare is now paid in full at cruise final payment, and once that payment is made, changes come with penalties—even if the airline changes your flight.
