In this week's cruise news update, we'll take a look at Norwegian Cruise Line's brand new ship, Prima. The new build vessel will debut new features for the line including wide open spaces and infinity pools.
Princess Cruises has suspended cruising for several markets into the end of this year with departures from Seattle and Los Angeles cancelled, as well as voyages through the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Future Cruise Credits, voyage swaps and full refunds have been offered to affected customers.
P&O's ex Pacific Dawn has been saved from the scrap heap. The ship will be born again with CMV-management team run, Ambassador Cruise Lines. She will be renamed Ambience and hopefully continue to offer passengers a great cruising experience well into the future.
The Alaska cruise season may well be saved. The Alaska Tourism Recovery Act is in motion to be approved by the US government, meaning cruise lines will be able to circumvent the Passenger Vessel Services Act and effectively operate domestic cruises from the US mainland for Alaskan itineraries. This will mean cruise lines can bypass the Canadian ban on cruise ships and hopefully move forward with their cruise seasons later this Northern Hemisphere summer.
