Amsterdam BANNED Cruise Ships - so I docked an HOUR away! | Norwegian Dawn

Welcome to Amsterdam! Except not really... now that Amsterdam has banned cruise ships, in order to visit this beautiful city, we have to dock at the port of Ijmuiden, about an hour away. This is my 3rd attempt to visit Amsterdam by cruise ship and the first two failed because of weather. Not the case today!! The drive from the NCL Dawn to Amsterdam was beautiful and I was able to spend some time exploring the city on foot before doing a canal boat tour that included unlimited wine and cheese (highlight of the day!) In the afternoon I visited the Anne Frank House, which requires planning far in advance as tickets are available online only and must be booked the day they go on sale about 6 weeks in advance in order to secure a spot. This was an amazing (although sad) experience and I'm so glad I was able to go. The weather was GORGEOUS today and I feel so lucky to have finally made it to the city and on such a beautiful day! My time was short but I know I'll be back someday to see more.
