Carnival Splendor Journey Cruise - Sydney to Singapore - Boarding July 21st 2024

On July 21st 2024, we boarded the Carnival Splendor for a Journey Cruise from Sydney to Singapore. Boarding day is always so exciting when it's been a while since your last cruise... We started the day early and caught a train from the Hunter Valley to Sydney. After dropping our bags at the bag drop, we joined a VERY long queue and finally boarded the Carnival Splendor at around 2.30pm. This was our second cruise on the Carnival Splendor, so we were already familiar with the ship. After a quick look around, we went to our mandatory safety briefing. Soon after, we were able to go to our stateroom. We were pleased to find we had received GOLD sail and sign cards, which provides a few extra perks while onboard. Then up to the Lido deck for a quick snack (Guy's Burgers) before heading out onto the deck to enjoy the magnificent views of the City, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. It's not a holiday until you've had your first cocktail. We sipped Pina Coladas while the ship moved away from the Cruise terminal and headed out through the heads on our way up the coast. Over the next 15 Nights/16 days, we visited several ports: Brisbane, Airlie Beach, Cairns, Lombok, and Bali before finally reaching Singapore on 5/8/2024. We will be uploading vlogs of each port as soon as we can. Stay tuned. Note: We filmed using a GoPro HERO11 Black. At one point, we had an issue with corrupted files when transferring from the memory card to a Stick Hard drive. We lost a few files and scenes we would have liked to have included but have edited around it. Potentially we have lost an entire day's footage from Airlie Beach which is a shame as we did a cool kayak Excursion. We will attempt to recover the files from the Hard drive but it's not looking good. This was my first time using the GoPro HERO11 Black as I wanted to test using the Linear + Horizon Levelling POV for vlogging. I was reluctant to move to the HERO11 as it forces you to shoot in H.265/HEVC which behaves horribly on my editing PC. Previously I have used the HERO9 (which still allows you to shoot in H.264/MP4), even though I have had the HERO11 for quite a while, to avoid this issue. Eventually, I will upgrade my PC and have a Graphics card that can handle H.265.
