Thursday 2nd of March 2023 on my way to Brisbane International Cruise Terminal on another 3-night cruise on Carnival Luminosa.
Let’s chat about car parking or transport or how you get to the cruise terminal the Brisbane International Cruise terminal.
5 ways to get to the Brisbane International Cruise terminal
1. Public transport - Not the best option or even a good option. I think it's an option that has been completely overlooked by the Brisbane City Council and the Port of Brisbane Authority. What you can do is catch a train or a bus to the airport and from there you could catch a taxi or Uber to the Brisbane International Cruise terminal. Maybe another public transport that they may have eventually would be a City Cat terminal there at Pinkenba.
2. Wilson's car park - 3 car parks, 1 undercover. They're labeled 1, 2, and 3. What appears to happen is anywhere up to about three months out from your cruise you can book a reservation on one of those car parks using the APP. Number 1 is closer is more expensive and it's a little undercover of solar panels over the cars. I am booked for next week I think when I go on a 7-night cruise, I think I'm booked in number 3, and then definitely for the 25th of March I'm booked in number 3. What I'll have to do with that one because I'm traveling with somebody else with limited mobility, I will have to drive down drop them off with the bags, drive back to the car park and park, then walk back by myself. I will not let that other person walk with me because it’s just going to be too exhausting for them. Additional parking of Wilson's car parking is you could go to the Brisbane airport car parking. You could purchase the weekend rates or the discounted week rates. Park there in an undercover car park and then from there catch an Uber or a taxi. I have done this on a one-way. It could still work if you cruise bother ways. It would be a good idea if you did want your vehicle undercover all of the time.
3. Park and ride services. I traditionally use Andrews or Portside parking. There are other ones available. I use a park-and-ride service and sometimes even over Christmas one of those Park and Ride Services wasn't available because it was all booked out, I had to go to the other one. Each one works in a very similar way you drop your car off they take you via a little shuttle to the cruise terminal. Then at the end of the cruise you go to the pickup point, you file into the little bus and off you go you collect your keys to your car. That's your journey, it's fabulous. It works well. I've used it a couple of times for things like having my car serviced as some use an external third-party provider. They can also clean your car if you want for an additional fee. I've done that I love it.
4. A door-to-door service - from your home to the cruise terminal. A service like ConXion. In the past, they had 1 service from the Sunshine Coast to the cruise terminal. It was scheduled too late for me as it got you to the terminal very late like 2.30 or 3 o'clock. Another thing with a shared ride service is you may be the first person to be picked up and then they pick up another couple of people along the way, it becomes a bit of a long drive. Another advantage would be if you were doing a large party a group of 4 or 6 or 8, you had a door-to-door service. It may be a pretty good option if that expense was shared between a few adults.
5. Friends and family - especially if they're in local proximity of about an hour's radius for example having somebody to drive you and drop you off and then be there to pick you up. If you have close friends and family that may be in the area or if you have friends that are in the city or around Brisbane. If you're from out of town for 2 to 5 hours maybe out of town, you could ask if you could drive and spend the night with them beforehand. Then they could drop you at the cruise terminal. You could just sling them some money if your relationship is ok with them. If they would take any payment for that.
6. Hotel accommodation that could have a shuttle service. If you arrive the day before a cruise, some suggestions are that a hotel could offer transport or a shuttle service to the cruise. If you have driven I don’t know where you could leave your car? If you've flown in and you don't have a car that could work? Ouch a lot of questions, maybe it's something that people could explore? Let me know the logistics and other options in relation this being the sixth way of getting to Brisbane International Cruise terminal for your cruise.
