Today we leave San Francisco and take on the iconic Pacific Coast Highway!
Starting with a noisy goodbye to our hotel, we head south through some beautiful coastal towns, stop for live music in Capitola, enjoy an incredible afternoon in Monterey, and continue the drive toward Big Sur — where the views would have been stunning… if the fog hadn’t swallowed the entire coastline.
After a huge burrito at Big Sur River Inn, we made the sensible decision that Elephant Seal Vista Point and Morro Bay wouldn’t be much use in the dark and heavy fog. So instead, we did the only logical thing… we drove straight to Disneyland!
We ended the night watching Paint the Night, before discovering the motel we’d booked had a very strong “1960s crime documentary” aesthetic. An unforgettable day, for all kinds of reasons.
