I arrived in Townsville by cruise ship… completely unprepared. With limited time and no clear plan, I decided to walk from the port and climb Castle Hill. It sounded adventurous, but with no taxi, no prep, and no real idea of what I was in for… I regretted it. Not because it wasn't fun and beautiful, but because I over estimated my fitness. Even a 75 year old man stormed passed me, so this is more about ME than the experience! There’s actually a lot to do in Townsville if you plan ahead — from exploring beautiful Magnetic Island to visiting the Billabong Sanctuary, wandering the Strand Promenade, visiting the HQ Aquarium or even diving into history at the Maritime Museum. But without a clear plan, I missed those chances.
