This tax applies to cruise passengers as well as hotel stays, and it can total up to 14% once local surcharges are added. I explain how the tax is expected to be calculated for cruises, which ships it applies to, and why staying onboard does not exempt you from the charge. I also share my personal thoughts on how this might affect future Hawaii cruise decisions. Next, we move to South America travel, particularly for those flying into Argentina to begin Antarctica or South America cruises. Argentina now requires visitors to show proof of medical insurance (minimum $20,000 coverage), emergency evacuation, proof of funds, return accommodations, and valid passports.
