DARWIN CITY
Darwin is the capital city of the Northern Territory, Australia. With a population of 139,902 at the 2021 census, the city contains most of the sparsely populated Northern Territory's residents. It is the smallest, wettest, and most northerly of the Australian capital cities and serves as the Top End's regional centre.
FISHERMAN'S WHARF
Fishermans Wharf is a 200m wharf for fishing, commercial and recreational vessels.
Fishing and other commercial vessels have priority over recreational vessels.
Darwin Fisherman's Wharf is the hub of the fishing and pearl industry in the Northern Territory. Perkins barges leave from here to provide cargo transport to Groote Eylandt and Nhulunbuy while the Marina provides safe haven for commercial fishing and trawling boats.
This concrete wharf can berth up to eighteen 30m boats where they can use power and phone access. Bunkering is available. making this a useful facility for local boats.
Local businesses in the area next to the wharf suppy the marine trade with supplies and services.
Wharf loading and access for working boats
There are slip rails and maintenance facilities on the site including a machine shop, fabrication shop and electrical workshop. Repair berths for vessels up to 80m long are available.
Fishing vessels, offshore supply vessels, tugs, barges and naval patrol vessels take advantage of these facilities which removes the necessity for voyages to Freemantle in Western Australia or Cairns in Queensland.
STOKES HILL WHARF
Stokes Hill Wharf is the main wharf for the city of Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia and is named after Stokes Hill, adjacent. The hill itself was named in 1839 by the commander of HMS Beagle, after its previous commander, Captain Pringle Stokes.
Another possible source is the unrelated John Lort Stokes, who was mate and assistant surveyor aboard Beagle under Captain Robert Fitzroy, R.N., 1831–1836 when Charles Darwin was a paying passenger, sharing Stokes' cabin. Darwin Harbour was named in 1839 by Lieutenant Stokes and Mr. Forsyth after their old friend and shipmate. Stokes and (ship's mate) C. C. Forsyth had taken the ship's boat to make a closer examination of the harbour.
DARWIN WATERFRONT PRECINCT
The Darwin Waterfront is in the heart of Darwin's CBD just walking distance from Smith Street Mall and the Esplanade.
Experience the best of Darwin's tropical lifestyle with lush parklands, a man-made beach along the saltwater recreation lagoon, and Darwin's most popular attraction, the Wave Lagoon.
Dine on around the world cuisine as you refuel after a morning swim, linger over a luxurious lunch, or stop for a sundowner. Choose from high-end Mediterranean and Mexican restaurants, to more casual cafes and bars - you'll never be too far from an ice cream or a cocktail!
Experience Darwin's multicultural and vibrant community with a year-round program of activities, festivals and events.
FORT HILL HWARF | DARWIN PORT | DARWIN CRUISE SHIP TERMINAL
