Today I'd like to go over with you about how my excitement is starting to rise now that I have three cruises booked for 2022.
I have Coral Princess on the 16th of June (2022)
I have Coral Princess on the 19th of August (2022) and I have Carnival Splendour out of Sydney on 5th of October (2022).
So with that excitement I still have to concentrate on all the tasks that need to be achieved before I can get onto the boat.
One of those is insurance, so I have a pre-existing condition.
I made an application to an insurance company to disclose my pre-existing condition and it only cost me an additional $20-25 for a three-day cruise.
I haven't yet bought the travel insurance, and cruise insurance for the Carnival Splendour five day.
(This) one may be a little bit more expensive, another couple of dollars for example.
It is really important to read the product disclosure statement.
The other thing that's really important is to purchase your travel insurance, and cruise insurance making sure that it is specifically related to domestic cruising in Australia.
Buy it as close to when you purchase your cruise as possible because if you save your money and save time and say I'll buy it closer to the time one you might forget.
Things might change in the interim and you won't have any coverage for those changes held within the insurance policy. That's why it's really important to purchase your travel insurance. Dedicated cruise, domestic travel insurance at (or) close to the time when you're purchasing your cruise and paying it off completely.
The other piece of housekeeping that I have had to do is use a park-and-ride service.
I drive to my closest cruise terminal which is Brisbane.
I park my car and then I collect it when I have finished the cruise.
I have a particular one that I particularly like, I looked online and it has permanently closed on it.
I had to access a different service provider, that I've also used before. The lady on the phone was very helpful and she explained the website. I went on to the website and then I see that it has a drop-down menu where you choose actually the date and the cruise that you are on. So that they know how many people they're going to have to service during that time.
The reason that I particularly use these park-and-ride services other than just parking at the cruise terminal itself is that I always get my car cleaned and I often get my car serviced.
The reason that I get my car serviced is that I'm busy normally the rest of the time and while the car is sitting there it may as well have some of its standard love and care.
These companies have links to national change chains such as Beaurepair or Ultratune or those types of national car servicing providers. They will have the car serviced for you or any other thing that you want doing changing tyres or changing batteries. For example in the past I needed windscreen wipers changed so they rang me actually before the boat left the dock and confirmed that I would consent to pay that for extra service. That was fine and it was done by the time that I got back. As I say the other reason that I particularly like it is so that I have an absolutely clean car to get into when I finish my cruise.
So that's a couple of housekeeping things that I need that I've done and I need to do before my cruises depart because as I say the excitement is rising.
I do not have at the moment a cruise suitcase packed.
Serial cruisers may understand that comment where in the past you had a cruise bag, you used it, you came home you washed it, you turned it around, (and) it was all ready to go for the next cruise.
It's been over two years since my last cruise so I do not have a designated cruise bag yet.
I'm gonna have to get that organized.
I have had some land content but that's a very different set of clothing that you need for land content than you do for cruising.
So my excitement is rising.
I hope yours is too.

Stay safe everybody and happy travels
