In this week's cruise news update, the headline is of course the extension to the Australian cruise and travel ban. Land-locked Australians will remain so until at least June 18th this year. The extension of the travel ban is not ideal, but I'll cover the reasons I think it's not the worst news to receive right now.
Royal Caribbean have announced that Odyssey of the Seas will have a new homeport in Haifa, Israel. Offering vaccinated Israelis 3-7 night cruises to the Greek Islands, the short cruises are another positive step for the industry as a whole as it begins to recover from the effects of the pandemic.
Costa Cruises will, by May 2nd, have two cruise ships operating, going to destinations such as Greece, Spain, Croatia and France.
Princess Cruises and P&O UK have both announced that they will offer short, domestic cruises in local UK waters during the European summer. More information about the program release will be announced soon.
