I am reflecting on a significant turning point in their life: the potential end of their cruising career. My primary motivation is my commitment to improving their health and overall well-being.
Over the past five to seven years, I have faced multiple health challenges, including pseudomyxoma peritonei and incurable appendix cancer. These health issues have led me to seek healthier lifestyle choices, starting with dietary modifications. I began by eliminating sugar and alcohol from their diet, a significant shift from their past life as a heavy drinker who often indulged in cruise drink packages. This dietary transformation involved exploring various approaches, from low-fat to low-carb to eventually adopting a carnivore diet.
In addition to dietary changes, I have embraced intermittent fasting, with a particular focus on fasting for 16 to 20 hours daily. These changes aimed to address health concerns, notably the risk of becoming pre-diabetic. The results were promising, with noticeable reductions in inflammation, improved joint health, and a decreased need for anti-inflammatory medications.
However, maintaining these positive changes proved challenging while cruising, where temptations in the form of sugary treats and alcohol were abundant. I openly struggle with controlling their impulses around these indulgences became a significant factor in their decision to distance myself from cruising as a core part of their identity.
Moreover, the impact of my environment on their ability to adhere to their newfound lifestyle. On cruise ships, surrounded by an abundance of sugar and alcohol, I find it difficult to resist the allure of these substances. The importance of self-control and people with strong connections to sugar and alcohol may find cruising to be a less suitable option for pursuing a healthier lifestyle.
As I contemplate my transition away from cruising, I expressly hope for a future with fewer temptations, potentially even considering living in Jordan as a different approach to life. This decision reflects my commitment to personal growth and my desire to regain control over my health and well-being.
